Facebook Is Making Two-factor authentication Even easier to set up

Facebook has taken root in our lives so much that even a massive company

Cambridge Analytica that collects our data will not stop hundreds of millions of people
of logging in every day.  At the very least, it could force Facebook to take the security of our data more seriously, which is exactly what the company seems to have done this week by making it easier for users to enable two-factor authentication, a vital security measure.

Two-factor authentication has been an option on Facebook for years, but this Wednesday, the company shared two ways it is improving the system to make it easier for everyone to use, regardless of their situation:
  • We have made it easier than ever to enable two-factor authentication with an optimized configuration flow that will guide you through the process.
  • We have also expanded the ways in which you can secure your account with a second factor by ensuring that people can enable two-factor authentication without registering a phone number.
"Previously, we needed a phone number to configure two-factor authentication, to help prevent account blockages," said Scott Dickens of Facebook in a blog post.  "Now that we have redesigned the function to facilitate the process of using third-party authentication applications such as Google Authenticator and Duo Security on desktops and mobile devices, we are no longer making the phone number mandatory."
If you want to enable two-factor authentication in your account (which you must do, by the way), all you have to do is go to https://www.facebook.com/settings, click on the    Security and Startup  tab Sign  in on the right side, and you'll see an option to   configure two-factor authentication   at the top of the page.
